It is easy to listen to Germans bitching about the United States and how it is trying to it's best to keep the world safe.

Bitching is easy, but doing something about it is much harder.

I am open for new ideas on how to deal with the Islamic problem. Nuclear Weapons in North Korea, and other dangers around the world.

for YOU, its the islamic problem, the north korean a-bombs, terrorism,
for THEM its the western problem, the american a-bombs, the way the western world treats countries which own recources like oil, coal or uranium. so the solution could be to respect each others attitudes, religions and beliefs and stop that stupid wars all around. people always think their point of view would be the best one for the rest either.

Under normal conditions, I would absolutly agree with you.

When people are trying their absolute best to kill me and my family, then then situation changes a little.

Please excuse me, I lived in Germany for for years, but have not been in the country since 1981. My German language skills are horrible today.

Even trying to figure out how to reply on this website has been a challenge.

I love the German people, and if we can talk tonight, it is most welcome

ok, but these are just a few of "them". its the old story, people get a leader who wants to kill i.e. the jews, like hitler did, and later, when the leader is gone, nobody can understand the reasons to follow him. i dont think that anybody in iraq really wants to fight in a war against the u.s., but for some reason they do. i dont understand people who follow this man, as others follow arafat or sharon. to kill or to get killed cannot be what they want.
i can understand that you want to defend yourself against terrorists, but the problem is that many people on both sides forget that the terrorists are just a few. surely it is right for you to defend youselves against any kind of violence and war, but this wont stop the war at a long view. any act of war will be the reason for another.
but additional to that there are things wich seem a bit strange, i.e. that g.w. bush seems to have known about the things which happened on september 11th and other things like the distribution of oil sources located in the iraq to certain companies just before the war started...
all this makes me think that there are also other interests in the war aganist the iraq than to prevent the support of terrorists by the iraq. maybe money is the reason? all these games played by big politicians make me think that in fact nobody but them wants these wars. the ones who suffer are always the people.

I can only understand English, so even identifying which button to push on this website is a challenge to me.

However, I would love to talk with other Germans about this current situation,

Until someone can tell the which buttons to push, I will use the "Antwort erstellea" button.

Danny77:

Those are outstanding questions that you asked.

After America was attacked last year, I must place my trust in President Bush. He and the others that work with him know much more that can ever be released to the public.

If, as you have implied, President Bush has been lying to the American public and the rest of the world, then I will be the first to demand his arrest and conviction. Any President that lies to the American public, should serve many years in prison.

We know exactly where the WMD stuff is being hidden.

Iraq has one final chance to come clean, and we are bending backward to give them that chance.

Today, we have the United Nation inspectors in Iraq, and their one and only job is to verify the location of the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical weapons that Iraq has in it's possession.

The negotiations are only how to destroy these weapons in Iraq once the locations have been established.

Any violation of the treaty signed by Iraq to halt the war in 1991, is a declaration of war once again.

If, anyone on this website can explain to me why Americans should endanger their lives, without fighting back, is more than welcome to talk to me.

you have to push the "zitat"-button located in the upper right corner of a comment to quote somebody.

if i imagine to be g.w. bush in his current situation (without the knowledge he has about things we dont know anything about), maybe i would act the same way as he does, but from the view of a normal person as i am, he does his part to start the war just like saddam does. mybe he is right, but definetly this is no democracy. i think that most politicians lies to their people, i am sure that gerhard schroeder does the same way, maybe they think that "the thruth" would be too hard for the people, whatever the truth is (roswell, bin laden, skulls & bones, ...), so they want to keep the people in ignorance and "peace" for their own advance, but the consequence is that people never get ready to take responsibility for their own lives and matters abd in this way there will never be any chance for real democracy and solid peace, which is made by the people themselves.
if people learn about the connections of peace and war, wealth and poverty and things like that on their own to understand how to live in peace and democracy, so they get to know that this is what they really want and not what so-called prophets tell them.

i can understand that in your situation this is so solution, because the danger of being killed or insulted is much bigger for someone from the u.s. than to someone from germany, but in time i think there is no other solution to solve these problems.

Let me give this a test....

Actually, the innocent German people have been the historical victums of terrorism. When a Disco in Berlin was bombed, America had enough and did something about it.

Even when planes would crash into the Reichstag, the germans wouldn't answer with war...

I think a big problem of the US-government is their obvious double moral.
-Nobody is allowed to produce or own mass-destruction-weapons but the US.
-Sovereign countries have to open their doors for weapon-inspectors but the US.
-Bush thinks, war could stabilize a region but the opposite is happening.
-Bush thinks, war could stop terrorism - oh my god, how naively!

After the war in Iraq the world will not live in peace but several oil-companies will earn a lot of money...

if planes would crash into the reichstag, germany would maybe be rid of some of its biggest problems...

but as i explained before, to start an attack at one country because some terrorists who came from there did an attack does the same to the people who live there like it does to crash a plane into one countrys capitol or wtc: the people who live in the affected country develope hatred against the whole other country which results in war; and until one of the countries is defeated completely, the attacks wont stop, just because small groups of people want revenge for something...

By the way, why doesn't Bush attack Germany? Obviously the hijackers lived in Germany for several months and planned their attack. We gave them accomodation, don't we have to be called a country of the axis of evil?

i have an idea...

let the UNO decide, what to do !
but not dictated by the USA.

if you read the german press, for example "spiegel-online, showdown in irak", there is no wondering about, why the germans are conserned about the way, G. Bush goes.

his try, to kick the germans out of the security council
the way, he set some members of the UN under pressure,
his "right", to have the first look on the blix-report, without the permission of the general-secretary...a.s.o.

not to mention the difficult strategy of an first strike (in german lang. its an attack-war, not a defense-war)

i think, from our point of view, its just a personal, and finacial war, and not a matter of worldwide peace.
